Cheese

Map of French cheeseThere are more than 400 different kinds of cheese in France . Strong or mild, creamy or runny, there is something for all tastes. So it’s perfectly possible to have a different cheese each day for a whole year.

Others are made with milk from goats or sheep, who are happy in sunnier drier regions. Camembert , which was originally made in the village of Camembert (61) in Normandy, is the one best known outside France.

The French eat more cheese than anyone else in the world - about 23kg per person per year, followed by the Italians who eat 20kg.

The best thing to drink with cheese is a nice glass of red wine.
